Saint Jean Du Barroux - L'Argile stands for the characteristic clayey loam soil of the region. The composition consists of Grenache Noir, Syrah, Carignan and Cinsault.
Philippe Gimel's heart and soul belongs to his wines and you can taste that very clearly in his wonderful cuvées, which are bursting with power, aromas and spice. They are very reminiscent of great Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines. And that is no coincidence, because after his studies he worked at Château de Beaucastel. Even today, Claude Gouan, none other than the winemaker of this world-famous winery, is his foster father.
Info on expansion:
Composition consists of Grenache Noir, Syrah, Carignan and Cinsault. The yields in this cuvée are also very low at around 20 hectoliters per hectare. Three quarters of the amount is macerated for ten days. The remaining quarter is pressed directly. The expansion takes place in concrete tanks, neutral containers with an enamel coating and a few used barrels.
