A Heinrich-Must-try for all fans of orange wines. "Shaken not stirred".
Heinrich Muskat Freyheit flashed us from the first sip and gets better with every minute the bottles is open!
This unvarnished and unconventional wine is a real hit with its aromas of nutmeg, jasmine and elderflower as well as hints of vanilla, rhubarb, ginger and bergamot.
The nose is an experience and this nutmeg-based orange wine shows itself with skillful balance, not fat or insignificant. An exciting substance with exotic aromas, serious structure and freshness that really brings a lot of energy.
On the palate it presents fresh and ethereal notes of bergamot and fresh ginger.
This wine is a perfect accompaniment to creative and bold cuisine.
Graue Freyheit is a Demeter Orange wine from Austria, consisting of 86 % Muskat Ottonel and 14 % Pinot Blanc. The grapes come from the limestone and mica slate soils on the eastern slopes of the Leitha Mountains and the sandy-gravelly-loamy sedimentary soils on the southern slope. The vinification was biodynamic and the wine was handpicked and left on the skins for 15 days in amphorae. After malolactic fermentation, it matured on its own yeast in the amphora for nine months.
The orange Joker of Gernot and Heike Heinrich invites to big gulps.
Wow, what a muscatel, the best we've had from this grape for a long time. Even better with a bit of ripeness, but still great!
