CANTINA MARTINELLI – PANTAGRUELE is Fancesco's Garganega that rests on the lees in steel barrels for 24-36 months before being bottled unfiltered and with minimal sulphur.
They are the same grapes as in Francescos IL GIGANTE only for the Pantagruelle with 2 years of barrel aging. It's amazing what happens to the wine in this extra year of maturation! It gains incredible structure, complexity and body, aging into a great white wine. It's like a concentrated form of its entry-level white wine.
PANTAGRUELE shows the whole volcanic terroir in scents, fullness and minerality. Nutty and slightly floral to tobacco scent with restrained yellow fruity and very slightly spicy and earthy notes. Clear on the palate, firm and tart yellow fruit, floral and yellow-spicy nuances, earthy and salty mineral notes, good grip, elegant acidity, with a nice, subtle oak finish.
(We can recommend IL GIGANTE to open parallel to PANTAGRUELE to taste the difference yourselves)
PANTAGRUELE is the son and partner of Gargantua. He is also a hungry giant and thirsty for every treat.
