We finally got a small allocation of the good drop. Already sold out from the winery, we let it mature for another six months and are now offering it to you!
If we tasted it blindly, we would rather locate this Chardonnay in the Jura. That puts you in a good mood!
With the 2019 vintage, Aldinger named the Chardonnay Reserve with its location, in which it has always grown anyway. It is a GG site, but Chardonnay is not (yet) approved as a GG in Württemberg, hence the gradation as the first plant. This Chardonnay is again one of Aldingers Specialties! Hansjörg and Matthias Aldinger drive a handful of completely experimental wines. Württemberg without a tie, so to speak. What talent and freshness the two bring to the company is mega. Because the winery itself is still number one in Württemberg and doesn't need such daring gimmicks. And that is precisely why it is all the more remarkable that the best wines in the region are produced here and that change comes from the establishment. The great wines are always the border crossers like that unsulphurized Trollinger Sine or this crazy Chardonnay Reserve.
The Chardonnay is fermented spontaneously in tonneax and barriques and matured on the yeast for a long time. Nice reductive tension, a bit in the character as it is very popular with the young guard in Burgundy or in the Jura. Please do not expect a normal Chardonnay, this is a very special part, you may not have drunk something like this from Württemberg. Green apricot and apricot kernels on the nose, like the best Chassagne-Montrachet, including lots of gunpowder and flint. Fruit? Doesn't need Aldinger! Also slightly chalky floury notes. Very piquant in the mouth, intense, wow, so much salt that the eyes narrow. Almost fruitless, liquid flint with chalk, mild citrus zest, orange peel. The finish is accompanied by piquant, mouth-watering saltiness, long and elegant, classy, only straight, but very special in this fruitless, reductive expression. This is quasi liquid stone and something for Jura wine fans.
